When you plug in the device again or resume the virtual machine, Workstation Pro reconnects the device. You can suspend or power off the virtual machine, or unplug the device. If a USB device connected to the host system does not connect to a virtual machine at power on, you must manually connect the device to the virtual machine.Īlso, on a Linux host, when you connect a USB device to a virtual machine, Workstation Pro retains the connection to the affected port on the host system.

If you plug a USB device into the host system, the device connects to the virtual machine instead of the host by default. On a Linux host, when a virtual machine is running, its window is the active window. Workstation Pro connects the device to the machine you select, but a remember option is also available, which creates a USB device connection rule that, in the future, directs Workstation Pro to either automatically connect that device to the host or to a virtual machine, depending on the machine you selected.

On a Windows host, by default, unless Workstation Pro is currently configured to remember a connection rule for a specific USB device, when you plug the USB device into the host system, Workstation Pro prompts you to select a machine to connect the device to. Oh and i disable wireless first if you are using that.Workstation Pro responds differently when you plug a USB device into a Windows host or a Linux host. Once i started to do this vm workstation work everytime and even on VM reboots. I only check to make sure it is bridged mode once. I am sure i could cut out some steps but it is real easy for me to do all of it real quick. Then i sysprep and then boot to firmware on the vm. I then power on the vm to the saved stated and run a ipconfig to make sure the computer and vm have actual same IPs in the subnet. before i open it i always make sure the settings are showing bridged. i will go to the vm and go back to my snapshot. I then run ipconfig /flushdns.Īfter i do that and only then will i start VM workstation. When it pulls an IP address I then go and disable the adapter and enable it again. I have to plug into the isolated network. My computer is plugged into real network at the time.

I have finally figured out how to get vm workstation working with no problems.
